I'm very excited to announce that The Feminist Book Club Paris (The FBC Paris) will be meeting every month in the Shakespeare and Company bookshop, as of the 16th September. So what better moment to share with you the origins of The FBC Paris and how you can become a part of it!
Let's rewind to earlier this year when I decided to create a book club with some friends. We all felt quite strongly about a) making an effort to read more female authors and b) continuing diverse feminist discussions. So the founding principle of The FBC Paris has been, and will always be, to read books - written by women from all over the world - to explore solutions that fight against the drawbacks of inequality, recognize all identities, respect individual choices and encourage the total freedom to exercise free will of the body. We want to shed a light on feminism that is representative and inclusive by reading, listening and discovering.
Since its first meet-up in March, The FBC Paris has discussed 5 books and grown from 6 to 9 members. And now, we start an exciting new chapter at Shakespeare and Company, a dream location that I have previously declared my love for on this very blog. We’re thrilled at this opportunity to open up the feminist discussion even more, keeping feminism and literature accessible to all of you who want to get involved. There may even be tea and biscuits!
If you are a Paris-based, book-loving feminist then we would love for you to join The FBC. If you have any friends who fit the above profile then we would love for you to tell them about The FBC.
