I'm going to be running the BUPA 10k in London on the 27th May for the cancer fund of King's College Hospital (Together We Can). It's my first sponsored run which i'll be doing with my friend Andrea, who i've talked about on here before - she currently lives in Brussels.
Why did we decide to do a sponsored run? Because Leonid Sukhorukov, the father of one of our very close friends Maryana, was recently diagnosed with acute undifferentiated leukemia. He has already undergone his first bout of chemotherapy and i am happy to report that he has responded very well to the treatment. It's a long road ahead, but this first bridge has been crossed!
So we are running to show our support to Maryana, her wonderful mum and her amazing dad, Leonid (the author of the quote in my blog title!)
Andrea and i are also honoured to be running for King's College Hospital, which is officially recognised as a Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Centre of Excellence. It does some brilliant work and we are happy to be able to raise funds for such a great cause!!!
Tomorrow i'm going to be doing a bake sale at the OECD where i work. Some lovely people have volunteered to bake things for me, and i'm a bit nervous as this is the first time i've done anything like this. I'm hoping there'll be a good turn out . I'll let you know how it goes : )
If you'd like more information on our run, please feel free to visit our donation page!
Training has been pretty fun! The weather has been quite sporadic!
And this week i managed to reach 10k which was incredibly satisfying!
I'm now going to work on running 10k in 1 hour...
Hope you're all having a great week!
* Leonid has written a book of aphorisms which are pretty inspiring : ) If you follow me on Twitter or are a Facebook friend of mine, you may have noticed that i have been sharing some of them.
