You will all have heard (or seen) by now that The Hoxton group has opened up its latest space in Paris. Their fourth offering has plenty of square meters to play around with, which makes total sense when you consider that its location (Sentier) was formerly the industrial are of the French capital. After 4 years of laborious construction work, The Hoxton has breathed new life into a former clothing factory that was abandoned for a decade.
If we go a little further back, this former 18th century hôtel particulier was designed by an advisor to Louis XV! Today, you will find nestled within, 172 bedrooms, an intimate cocktail bar and an updated take on the famed French brasseries - all stamped with the cool, urban chic that The Hoxton nails so well. No-one will judge if you loiter a little too long at either of the two grandiose staircases that just happen to be around 300 years old.
The Hoxton team know that design is everything in this golden age of Instagram, so they've teamed up with Soho House for the public spaces and Humbert & Poyet for the guest rooms. So as to not alienate their French visitors, they have also included interior details from French favorites Jean Prouvé and Mathieu Matégot.
Given that the space is so gorgeous, you may well not want to leave the hotel. That's OK - just book a table for dinner at Le Rivié to enjoy some French bistro classics. Or if you're in the mood for love, head to Jacques' Bar for a bespoke cocktail conceived by the creative talent behind Quixotic. Both the space and the drinks menu are inspired by the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech so you'll either fall for the floral wallpaper, the blush pink seats or both.
Many thanks to the team at The Hoxton Paris for inviting me to spend an evening with them recently. I had a great night's sleep in their comfy beds. From a practical viewpoint, their complimentary "breakfast bag" feature is great is you're checking out early and heading to work / train station / airport! If you have some time to spare before checking out, enjoy a coffee in their beautiful lobby with a view of the courtyard.
