|The teaching assistants of Périgueux 2007-2008|
Summer 2008 - I'm at CDG airport in Paris about to get on a plane to LAX with 40 French teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17. We're headed to Los Olivos to do a summer linguistic camp. As it turns out i am the only English monitor/counsellor, so the "linguistic" element of the camp gets totally thrown by the wayside. Yes of course, i did happen to notice that JB, a fellow camp counsellor, was a good-looking chap, but i had a bf, I knew he had a gf and I'm definitely a monogamous kinda gal. Besides, 80% of the teenage girls on camp fell in love with him so you know, he was kind of busy fighting them all off most of the time. I didn't get much of a sense of who JB really was as a person during the camp - we were all too busy having fun.

Camp ended, and so did my relationship at the time (It felt like the end of the world back then but i finally embraced that French saying "C'est la vie"). I moved back to the UK to finish my final year of studies. But lo and behold, my good friend Maryana was only moving to Paris for her year abroad! So i spent many weekends in Paris, and that is when i got a sense of who JB really was a person, because we would meet up when i was in town. Coffee turned to lunch, which then turned to drinks, then more drinks and finally an invitation to the 30th birthday party of one of his friends (who had been our camp director in Los Olivos).

And the rest happened so fast. JB said he liked me, I admitted that i liked him too, we shared our first kiss, i finished my university studies and we decided that i would a) move to Paris and b) move in with him.
So i did.
Et voilà mes amis - this is how i ended up in Paris. Basically I acted on an impulse, didn't think anything through and just went for it...
4 years later, I can confidently say that it all worked out pretty well :)
