Last weekend I went to Toulouse for the weekend with Claire, Yuliya, Veronica and Ksenia. This was our first visit to the Ville Rose (pink city), except for Claire who actually spent her year abroad there, so we had someone to show us how the metro worked, point out some nice buildings and show us the nightlife which is always very handy.
We all met at Orly airport on Saturday morning, checked in our bags and headed to the champagne and oyster bar to have some bubbles before the flight ! After the shortest flight ever we arrived in not so sunny Toulouse and headed straight to the apartment (one of Claire's friends kindly lent us his swish pad). Then off we headed for a little stroll around the city (and some emergency tight buying!)

|"Tourists" as JB would say|
It was rather chilly so we soon retreated to a bar with outdoor heaters on Place Capitol. Any excuse for a drink and all that. The service was preeeeeeeeeeetty laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaid baaaaaaaaaaack and so it took around half an hour for us to ask for the bill, receive the bill, ask for the card machine to pay and then finally, pay! Life clearly moves at a slower pace in South -West France :)
After some more bubbles and bonding at the apartment we headed out for a lovely dinner at Le bruit qui court with Charlotte and Pierre. We ate in the cave and it was so pretty with the lighting, the food was great, the service was tip-top and we had a good giggle.
Then it was time for some dancing! It was not our lucky night for getting in to Le Telegramme, the club we had heard SO MUCH about. Slightly subdued we went to the bar across the street and this place turned out to be rowdy. Getting a drink was a mission, the music playing when we first went in was Blink 182, there were so many sweaty people pushing and shoving. Meh. We were not impressed!
However, to use her very own words, Claire "heard a good beat drop" and she was away with the dancing and the lip syncing - so we followed suit and got down and funky (or something along those lines). Then we headed to Tex Mex and had an even better boogie. My, Tex Mex will remain with me FOREVER. Who doesn't love a Tex Mex restaurant with a dance floor in a magical room at the back? That was a very good suggestion Charlotte - merci!
Sadly the night had to come to an end at some point, so we all ended up back at the apartment rather late and snuggled in our respective sleeping places...
Sunday was wet and windy. Being the troopers that we are obviously we headed out and saw some of the sights...such as the Basilique Saint Sernin (beautiful), the Pont Neuf (moody) and there was even time for a bit of culture with a visit to the Fondation Bemberg.
I would highly recommend La Fiancée for food. We paid EUR 16,50 for six plates of fresh, tasty food and a posh coffee. We were happy in our food comas.
And there was more food and wine in the evening - yay! There is nothing I love more than some fine food tourism !

And SUCCESS ! We got in to Telegramme, our lives were complete : ) There was dancing, champagne, a lot of purple and so much laughter - thank you for having us Toulouse, we very much enjoyed our weekend with you!
|I think we followed the advice on Yuliya's T-shirt very well!|
