Before i get in to the details of last weekend's wedding, I wanted to point out that yes, my blog is a little higgledy piggledy right now.
I have a few posts left over from NYC that i haven't had chance to sit down and write during my time in London because i've wanted to be present during my time in the UK.
I'm getting there...bear with me :)
The wedding!
Last Saturday, Jarek, Maryana and myself get in a car and drive from London to Stoke-by-Nayland, to go to the wedding of Claire (the English rose) and Dimtri (le toulousain).

The first time i ever met Dimitri, i remember being severely disappointed that he wasn't Russian.
We pick up Sandrine from Colchester train station and then check in at our hotel
(Quality Hotel - what a great name, i didn't even register as i made the reservation on Booking.Com)

We gussed ourselves up (obviously that didn't take much time) and get to the church for 3:02pm.
Except that the ceremony had started at 3pm on the dot.
Oops :(
The ceremony was absolutely gorgeous: it was actually the mother of the bride who was marrying the couple! So everything was very personal which made the event all the more touching and emotional.
Sorry for the graveyards. Try to focus on the beautiful Church because it was VERY beautiful |
There was champers outside the Church whilst the bride and groom were getting snapped with various relatives and friends.
This was our opportunity to talk about lipstick...
I'm apparently not that convinced by Sandrine's tip, but Mar is definitely approving. |
But then it all falls in to place and I get it! |
Then but a mere hop, skip and a jump away
(or a leap if you have short legs like me)
(or a leap if you have short legs like me)
we were welcomed in to the beautiful grounds of the Mitchell abode.
There was a hammock and a swing.
And so much beautiful green space.
There were also garden games. Croquet, which i have never played and kept it that way...
But Sandrine and I quietly started a game of JENGA which seemed to bring a crowd over.
Suddenly we were surrounded by Frenchies.

It got a bit rowdy!
Around 4pm, tea and cake was served in this gorgeous marquee. There was also Pimms and wine constantly available from the moment we sat down to tea until the end of the evening.
Our table - how pretty! |
We wiped tears from our eyes as the father of the bride gave a cute speech.
We both sighed and laughed as Dimitri and his best man gave their speeches in English and French (very impressive!)
The atmosphere was brilliant - i think the French and English groups melded really well and everyone was clearly down to have a fun time and celebrate the union of 2 lovely people.
We played more garden games.
The barbecue was lit, people were milling around, chatting to this person then to that person.
As it got darker, we all made our way to the dance floor and threw some serious moves around!
Of course, there are no photos available, because you would be blinded by the awesomeness (and we were all too busy dancing to take any actual photos!)

Thank you Dimi and Claire for letting us be part of your special day.
I forgot to write in your guest book, so the message i would have written is the following:
"What a wonderful couple and what a wonderfully special day!
You both glowed with love and happiness and i can't wait to see what the future holds for you, you lovely couple!!!!!"
Love Lou

p.s. thank you to all those from whom i borrowed/stole photos!
