It's day 7 already, which means i'm halfway through my holiday in this oh so vibrant city! One part of me is "noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i don't want my time here with JB to ever end..." then the other half of me is just focused on enjoying every breath that i take here!
So yesterday was another WONDERFUL day (i mean, what else?!)
I went to the 9:30am Strong class at Strala, then i walked a little further down Broome Street, past the apartment to Babycakes bakery, which is a vegan and gluten free bakery. Erm, yet again i was completely overwhelmed by the choice...an amazing place!
I settled for a chocolate-dipped doughnut and brought home a brownie for JB.
We're quite close to Chinatown here, so i passed this scene on my way back from the bakery to the apartment, around Eldridge Street.
I came home and got myself ready to meet Jerusha at the New York Public Library on 42nd and 5th Avenue. I walked from the apartment all the way there, which took around an hour and was so much fun.
We checked out the exhibition "The ABC of it: Why Children's Books Matter"
The exhibition was just brilliant -what an innovative idea. I felt so informed. And it was sweet to read the history of the children's section of the NYPL - there were some pioneering librarians at the helm, it was inspiring!
It was also an opportunity to revisit my childhood and remember Nancy Drew, Winnie the Pooh and Beatrix Potter :)
|Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things are|
|Oh Max, what a wonderful yet lonely thing childhood can be!|
Jerusha and I then parted ways for a few hours, so lucky me i got to hang out in Bryant Park for a bit before going to meet her and JB i n the Meatpacking District at Manon.
Pretty swanky place. Amazing cocktails (Aaron is a genuis cocktail meister).
And the food...My oh my, the equivalent of the cocktails.
I went for dorade, JB took beef and Jerusha a beef tartare. Sides of vegetable gratin, Japanese mushrooms and Brussel Sprouts (in a honey and pecan sauce). The balls of bread they brought us...we were all spellbound.
And a plum and honey semifreddo for dessert.
We left with full stomachs and happy hearts : ) only to find ourselves surrounded by supermodel height ladies.
Gulp. They're everywhere here.
JB and I walked to Union Square. JB is convinced he saw Eric Bana on the stroll home!!!!
Then home for snuggles on the sofa!
