1) Currently reading...Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
If you're at all a nostalgic type of person (like me!) it's highly likely you will appreciate this book. The reader follows the lives of Japanese teenagers growing up during the late 1960s and events are narrated by Toru Watanabe, the protagonist of the novel. It's very sweet, it's funny and it's also incredibly sad at times...It's the kind of book i could imagine reading once every decade as I grow even more sentimental about my youth!
2) Currently eating...Too much junk (but it's so tasty!)
I've decided that the ONLY advantage of JB and I being separated for most of the month of July (sob sob!) is that i will be able to detox as i did last summer - i felt super amazing and lost a few kilos too! It does mean giving up bread and alcohol and a lot of other food that i'm very attached to. However, I am ready for it! This weekend was scorching hot in Montreuil. JB and i visited our local market and park which was tiring work and therefore we absolutely deserved an ice cream :) I love our new neighbourhood, there is a perfect mix of urban necessities with nature only a short walk away!
3) Currently dreaming about...my trip to New York New York
So JB is getting sent to New York by his office for 7 WHOLE WEEKS from July 1 :(
The upside is that, as mentioned above, i can detox during his absence and I can go and visit him there for 2 whole weeks!!!!!! The tickets are booked, the apartment in Nolita is booked (Babycakes is on the same street as our appartment and we are around the corner from Lombardi's, it's FATE i'm telling y'all!) and i spend distracted moments at work planning what to do! Also on my list? I would LOVE to have a yoga lesson with Tara Stiles at Strala, to experience the absolute craziness of a workout session at Soul Cycle, take in some art at the Guggenheim and i just have to try a cronut at Dominique Ansel's bakery wouldn't you agree?
If anyone has any recommendations for me of things to do/places to see/delicacies to nom nom please do throw them at me!
4) Currently listening to...Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky
I think everyone knows this ballet right? Especially after the film Black Swan? It's one of my favourites (in fact Tchaikovsky is one of my favourite composers too, his piano concerto being one of my favourite works for piano...can you see the theme here?!) It's hauntingly beautiful, it's pretty fiery and one of my dreams is to see a production of the ballet itself (somewhere glamorous and refined of course, such as Covent Garden Opera House.) I know, i'm not demanding at all. Like really not at all.
I hope you're all having a lovely week!
