So the surprise party was a HUGE success. The birthday girl was happy and loved her present
(a trip to NY), everyone was in a great mood, pink champagne was flowing for pretty much the whole evening and I made it home around 3am so that is your proof right there that this party was amazing.
I sent JB a little text on my way home which I read the morning after "In cwr with Jullen"
(translation: In car with Julien)

How cute/awesome are these cakes that Jérémy (Rachel's fiancé) got her from chezbogato.fr |
And the celebrations continued the rest of the weekend!!!!!!!!!!! At 4pm on Saturday afternoon, 5 Frenchies and 1 adopted Frenchie (that's me) left Paris for the little village of Warlus. What a road trip. There was a stop-off at McDonalds, sing-alongs to old French classics, good conversation, and I even snuck in a 10 minute power nap!
It was lovely to escape Paris for the countryside! We had very little signal (cue odd positions and locations of people trying to send a text to a loved one!) and the house was just beautiful.
1) a peek into the garden 2) a really cute vintage chair 3) fancy chandelier in my bedroom 4) hydrangeas |
barbecues / champagne / card games / laughter / friendship
JB was a very busy bee this weekend with concerts in Paris and he was missed by all of us
(obviously I missed him the most!) His absence did make me see more clearly how lovely his friends are with me, how they have become my friends too over time and that being a part of this friendship circle is very much like having a second family. Thanks guys, I'm really happy to be part of your circle (and thanks for putting up with my silly French)!
