A night out at Le Mary Celeste

September 8, 2013
Last night I went out for drinks with the girls. It was an opportunity to catch up with Claire, who has recently returned from an exotic honeymoon location.
We reserved a table for 7:30pm (reservations by email only and latest table reservation is 7:30pm).
I was particularly excited about trying this place out as the same owners run Candelaria, a lovely Mexican taqueria/cocktail bar also in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.
Upstairs was packed which is totally normal for a Saturday. Luckily, our table was downstairs, right next to the tiny kitchen, so we were away from the brouhaha and found the mood to be very laid back.
Just to give you an idea of the space downstairs
The food menu changes every day...but if you go and have the luck to see "slow roasted pig" staring back at you from the menu do not hesitate and order it at once. Because it is absolutely bloody delicious!!!
As were the crostini, the grilled peppers with parmesan and the courgettes that we ordered.
The plates are small which is perfect for sharing with friends and getting a taste of everything the Mary Celeste has to offer.
We started with some champagne (3 bottles actually, but that's another story).
52 euros for a bottle of Comtes, Hugues de la Bourdonnaye champers, which we all found rather light and delicious and good value.

The cocktails...
At 12 euros a pop, these are totally worth it. Between us, we tried the Single Ladies, Snowdon (my favourite), Marseillen and 2 others i forget because they're not on the cocktail menu above!
One was very smoky, with Mezcal tequila as its base, and the other was quite bitter but fruity with amaro and campari working together!

I definitely plan to head back here for their happy hour (oysters at 1 euro a pop!) and i think you should try it too if you're ever in the area.
Us ladies had a fun night out, the service was perfect, (not too little, not too much), the food and drinks absolutely delicious and that complimentary tequila shot right at the end gave us all a little kick for the metro ride home : )
Thank you Le Mary Celeste!

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again". I have been wanting to spend some time with "Rebecca" once more so the wet and windy weather today in Montreuil was just the excuse I needed ☺ I absolutely love this cover design and the fact that Oscar wanted a piece of the action ❤🖤 #booksofinstagram #bibliophile #bookworm #rebecca #daphnedumaurier #bookstagram #viragopress #shakespeareandcompany
Change of scene for work today. Snapped on my way to the studio 😍#parisjetaime #thisisparis #mytinyatlas
Are you Paris based and looking to join a book club? Starting September 16, the feminist book club (The FBC) will be meeting every month at Shakespeare and Company in Paris! We read books - written by women from all over the world - that highlight matters of interest to feminists; from work to relationships of all kinds, to prejudice, lack of representation and reproductive rights. If you want to be a part of it I've popped the sign up link in my bio ☺#shakespeareandcompany #bookshopsoftheworld #sylviabeach #bookish

"It seemed threatening now, the empty rooms and dusty spaces sinister, when so recently I had thought it beautiful. I couldn't help but believe it was playing tricks on me, trying to send me mad or drive me away." It's the summer of 1969 in the English countryside (Hampshire) and Frances Jellico's life is about to change forever. A socially awkward individual, she is invited to survey the gardens of a crumbling mansion, recently purchased by an American businessman. It is here where she meets glamorous couple, Cara and Peter, but the cracks in their idyllic romance soon start to appear. A wonderfully atmospheric novel from @writerclairefuller, which you'll particularly enjoy if you're a fan of Rebecca or The Little Stranger.

Throwing it back to beautiful Cascais last week. Because I doubt that you want to see all the unpacked boxes hanging around our new house 😬 (Link in profile for a new post on the past 5 years in Montreuil @lou_in_paris) #portugal #movinghouse #home
